MISSION STATEMENT
To Our Prospective Sponsors, Corporate Exhibitors, And Patrons:
The Connecticut Black Expo is an effective platform in ultimate exposure for small, minority-owned businesses, academic institutions, and various community members.
This historic event has provided the opportunity for sponsors, health and social service agencies, and academic institutions to promote, sell and inform the public of the various services that they provide to citizens and consrmers, and make them aware of the availavility of these products and services throughout the Connecticut area.
The Black Expo is the largest African-American tradeshow in the country. The first Expo, established in the mid 1970's in New York City, has now sustained an epidemic that has spread to approximately twenty cities throughout the United States.
The essence of this event has been exemplified in the City of New Haven for many years, and the mission of the Connecticut Black Expo is dedicated to a "State-Wide" approach that will serve as a platform for businesses, religious and social service agencies, to enhance the knowledge of the African-American and minority communities about programs for economic, health, social growth and empowerment, despite the discouraging statistics about the current status of our economy.
African-Americans represents approximately 12% of the US population totalling more than 36 million people whose potential spending has been about $631 Billion since 2002, with a consistent increase since then. The Inner-City retail market alone has had, and still sustains the potential of $85 Billion on average.
The Connecticut Black Expo acknowledges the significance of the African-American consumer dollars and the community's need for economical, education and growth, which is why it seeks to provide and outlet for corporate entities to build relationships and its market share within the African-American community.
The Connecticut Black Expo is seeking your support and your participation in helping us in our efforts to continue: "Building Better Communities."
Sincerely,
Maurice W. Smith
